Leadership Camp
P.A.V.E.'s Leadership Camp was a
week-long day camp
designed to create confidence and promote understanding of the intricacies of
conflict resolution among teens.
This “Leadership Transition Program,” took place Aug. 4-8 at Charlestown’s Camp
Davis.
The mission: To bring together 20 middle schoolers with 10 high school students
from the Lincoln Students Against Crime program and build a foundation of trust,
confidence and self-esteem so those schools’ environs will grow as a positive
learning and social experience for all.

John:
On behalf of the
Homestead Group, I would like to greatly thank you and
your staff for facilitating the “Leadership Camp” for
our kids which took place from 8/10/10-8/13/10. I have
received an overwhelming positive response from all who
attended, as well as from their families and our staff.
This was an extremely positive experience for the kids
that we support, most of whom had never experienced
anything like the camp.
While planning for
“camp week”, my coworkers and I were unsure if any of
the kids we were sending would be able to participate in
the “ropes” portion of the camp. We realized that the
ropes were the focal point of the camp theme, but it was
certain that none of the kids we support had ever done
anything like it. We were proved to be (thankfully)
wrong! Watching the various kids get the confidence to
put on the harness, climb the tree, and walk high above
the ground was awesome! This was a true testament to
the staff, who were encouraging the kids and assuring
them of their safety. In addition, all of the other
camp activities such as swimming, boating, the “spray
park”, and field games really rounded out quite an
active week. The information presented on “bullying” was
also excellent, especially the “Bully BINGO” and
“collage” project. Everything tied in so well!
We are sincerely
grateful to you, your staff, and the P.A.V.E.
organization. We are glad to have collaborated with
you, and we look forward to future positive endeavors.
Sincerely,
